About Garden Grove, CA
With a population of 170,000 residents, the city of Garden Grove is one of the substantially populated suburban cities that comprise Orange County, California. The city is comprised of a large Asian community, with a Vietnamese-American and Korean-American population. The city is also home to the famous Crystal Cathedral, from which the Rev. Robert H. Schuller broadcasts and televises his nationally syndicated religious sermons.
Although the city of Garden Grove was established as far back as 1874, it remained a small, insignificant community until the arrival of the railroads in 1905. The city didn’t become officially incorporated until 1956.
Garden Grove, California is not home to any major corporations and industry, however one section of the city, West Garden Grove, is known to be one of the most affluent communities in all of Orange County. The Vietnamese neighborhood, known as Little Saigon, is a popular restaurant district. The city is also home to several theatres, including the Garden Grove Playhouse, the Gem Theatre, and the Festival Amphitheatre. Garden Grove also hosts one of the most popular and highly attended festivals on the west coast, the annual Strawberry Festival, which attracts over 250,000 visitors each year.
