I started tutoring in Spanish as a high school student, working with first graders and fellow high school students. I was responsible for creating lesson plans, researching materials, and completing post lesson reviews. At Grove City College, I tutored two elementary home-schooled children for one of my professors. Later, I worked with gifted elementary students, junior high and high school students as a student teacher, as well as tutored fellow college level students. As a substitute teacher, I worked with students in Spanish classes. As a full time Spanish teacher for the past 8 years, I have tutored students from 4th to 12th grade from basic exploratory topics to advanced (International Baccalaureate program) students. I have completed a Master's Degree in Spanish Pedagogy from Kent State University in Ohio and am currently employed as a Foreign Language Explore Teacher at Field Middle School and a part-time Spanish Instructor at the University of Akron. I also am a Spanish Instructor with Kent State University's Upward Bound program for high school students. I enjoy using multiple methods to help a student learn Spanish, especially visual and hands-on techniques. I stress the importance of using various language skills: speaking, reading, writing, listening and incorporating cultural information. I have experience in curriculum mapping according to Ohio's State Standards. I have access to multiple resources for lessons, examples and even extra online practice websites.
