However trite it may be, the idiom "The unexamined life is not worth living" is something worth repeating, especially when it comes to learning. Let's face it, you seek tutoring to help you "get" something that is probably required of you from some institution, some higher source of learning than, let's say, YouTube. Good for you! Because while you may not be thrilled to write a too-many-pages dissertation on Thoreau's "Civil Disobedience", I bet you will be surprised at how happy you will be to have learned at least a few conversation points from it as an adult-- or, at the very least, you will have one more thing to joyfully criticize and find pleasure in disdaining. Either way, your world has expanded, and you have felt something.
The reason I love tutoring and helping people learn is just that-- life really is not worth a whole lot if not examined, thought upon, and explored. I'm right there with you: I really, REALLY would rather be doing one million and one other things besides writing theoretical equations on how to build bridges (unless I was a civil engineer, of course); but since you're probably not, and you've gotta do it anyways, you might as well make it fun. And learn something from it in the meantime.
As a graduate from UCLA and the Universite' de Paris La Sorbonne (Europe's ivy league), with a major in History and a minor in French; a former sales and marketing professional with an array of experience in communications, public speaking, and organization; a SAG actress with professional training; and a cook book author (Bubble Child, for food allergies), it would be a pleasure to impart at the very least some of the knowledge I have picked up along the way to an eager mind-- or even a completely agnostic one!
I am open to all ages: what you learn in kindergarten matters just as much as what you take from the university lecture hall.
Because, as with life, if you're going to pass through it, you might as well make it worthwhile.
