Hello! My name is Khia Marie Bautista and I am currently working towards my Bachelor's in Liberal Studies as well as obtaining my Multiple-Subject credential. After being admitted in the credential program as a multiple subject/elementary school candidate at Cal State Northridge, I participated as a student teacher, working with the master teacher to plan and teach lessons for both Language Arts and Math in order to carry out instruction of a 4th grade class. I also got the opportunity to work with individuals and small groups when more attention was necessary. I have been a private tutor for the past four years, working with individual students in all subject matters, correcting and reviewing student’s homework and going over past tests to work on areas of weakness. I was formerly a youth group leader at Saint Dominic's in Eagle Rock, California, which gave me experience through assisting the youth minister in the planning and teaching of classes as well as working with a group of confirmation candidates aged 13-17 in gaining the knowledge needed to pursue their confirmation. I also acted as a program director intern and teacher's aide at the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts in which I assisted the program director in tasks regarding the children’s summer camp, aided the summer camp teachers in instruction of art lessons, and supervised children during their free time at the camp. I have always had a passion for working with children. I ensure that all my lessons are student-centered in order to make sure that every student is seen as an individual with different learning styles and different needs. I work towards addressing those needs through hands-on, visual, and auditory techniques depending on what their apparent learning style is.
