Special Needs: ?
As a tutor, I work with each student to find the best learning approach for the unique individual. I instruct all types and levels of learners and can take students "out of the box" if necessary. Keen attention is consistently paid to how learners apply organization and technology; I help fill in gaps when students struggle in these critical areas.
My credentials include a Master's of Education (GPA 3.9/4.0) and a Secondary English Certificate to teach in Pennsylvania. I received the Educational Testing Service's Recognition of Excellence Award in my subject area, "7-12 English Language, Literature, and Composition: Content Knowledge." My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Arts in English (3.7/4.0) with a Psychology Minor and Fiction Writing Certificate from Pennsylvania State University, University Park, Pennsylvania.
Related work experiences include private tutoring, serving as a middle school special education one-to-one and classroom aide, providing support to a secondary Social Studies faculty, and recently working as a secondary English teaching intern. Other related experiences include before-and-after school program and camp supervision, preschool co-teaching, and many volunteer hours spent helping schools, libraries and other non-profit organizations achieve some of their goals.
We all have an innate desire to contribute positively to society, whether wee tots, K-12 learners, those in higher education, adult learners, special needs students, or the gifted. My goal is to allow each type and level of learner to become comfortable gaining and sharing knowledge with others in the subject(s) of their choice or need. I, too, shall always remain a learner who stays current with best practices in education and administration of curriculum design and its execution. All said, I solemnly promise to provide caring, respect and patience to each student I teach.
