Special Needs: ?
I am a senior at Elmhurst College completing my Early Childhood 04 teaching certificate. I am also fulfilling requirements for the early childhood special education approval letter and the English as a Second Language certificate. I am looking forward to becoming a member of a professional teaching community by obtaining a position tutoring and supporting young minds.
I believe that being an educator allows one to truly touch the lives of others. It is my goal that that my students feel as though they are capable of learning and achieving what they set their minds to. I am committed to being a lifelong learner and hope to inspire my students to do the same.
There are numerous qualities that I bring to my tutoring sessions. I have spent most of my life working with children. I have spent most of my life around children with various disabilities. I have taken care of children with severe autism, Asperger's, severe epilepsy (i.e. Dravet Syndrome), and Hurler’s syndrome. It has given me the opportunity to form significant and warm relationships with, learn from, and be inspired by these children and their families, which I hope to continue through tutoring. My experiences in the classroom have led me to believe that all children benefit from individual attention and data driven instruction based on student interests. I think tutoring provides opportunity to get to know students and their families to enable them to learn to the highest extent possible.
Thank you for considering me as a tutor for your child. I look forward to getting to know you and your family.
