Who better to tutor you in a subject than someone who recently took it or is in the process of learning it? Hi, I'm Belinda. I'm a junior in high school. My freshman year the A.P of Math in my school came to me & asked how I felt about "peer tutoring". It's when students who are passing a class help out the kids who are failing. As a reward the student gets community service. Every student that I helped passed , I simply related the topic we were learning to daily stuff that I know teens are interested in. I take things like shows, movies who recently came out, sports etc and relate them to the topic I'm teaching. For example I'm into basketball & I was tutoring this guy who I always noticed playing basketball after school. The guy had no geometry IQ, but his basketball IQ was up the sky. I found a common root with basketball and geometry and connected it. That guy went on to getting a 91 on his geometry regent. I was only a sophmore at that time and he was a senior. Till this day I still take part in "peer tutoring" even though I have enough community service. I even tutor my friends, whenever they're having trouble in a class they seem to always come to me. They find that I make teaching simple, I can take a hard physics question and rephrase it to make it sounds like an everyday question they can relate to. I can help with any high school subject or even middle school. However when it comes to college stuff, I'm out of the blue, well duh I haven't learned it yet. The way I see it, learning should be fun and easy. Sad to say most teachers can't teach classes their way because they have to follow a certain agenda. BUT I DONT. Allow me to tutor you and ill tutor you my way. someone your age you could relate to, talking to you one on one
