I currently teach critical reading, writing, ESL, and SAT preparation at two nonpublic schools in the New York City area. Previously in the Chicago area, I taught courses on literature, philosophy, and music in the humanities department at Harold Washington College, as well as all levels of English coursework at Prairie State College--developmental writing classes through upper level literature courses. Additionally, I have several years of tutoring experience in college writing centers, as well as private tutoring experience on the high school level.
I have a BA in English from Appalachian State University and an MA from the University of Chicago. I can help students with all stages of the writing process, from brainstorming to proofreading final drafts, as well as reading comprehension, from Plato to Shakespeare to Joyce.
