Special Needs: ?
Subjects like math and physics have a reputation for being difficult, frustrating, even daunting. Some people seem to have a natural talent for these subjects. If you're one of these people, you probably dont need my help. Most people, however, are every bit as capable of performing well in these areas if only they can be shown how to approach the given subject in a way that makes sense to *them*.
As a college tutor with nearly 10 years experience in math and science instruction, I have come to realize that students process information in ways that are highly personalized. An approach that makes sense to one student may be completely confusing to another. Whether it be through meticulous note taking, using colored pens & pencils, or the use of graphs and diagrams, all students tend to find ways of approaching a subject that makes the most sense to them. The same can be said of the instructors' teaching styles. Unfortunately, most instructors know of only one way to teach a subject; the one that makes the most sense to the instructor.
It is on this point that I stand apart from the others. In my experience tutoring math and science to students of all ages, I have learned to listen to the student and tailor my instruction to their needs. Often times, I can pick up on learning styles that the students themselves are not aware of, allowing me to present the material in a way that best resonates with the student.
You can rest assured that (like most other tutors) my proficiency in the subject areas I offer is very high. This is the most basic requirement for anybody looking to teach a given subject. While detailed knowledge of the subject matter is critical, conveying those ideas to another human being is a whole other skill set. I am highly experienced and proficient in this skill set. Together we can troubleshoot the problems you're having and get you on your way to acing your exams!
