I am a graduate of the University of San Diego with a degree in Business Administration and Spanish Language and Literature. I have over 10 years of experience working as a teacher's assistant for K-8th and as a private Spanish tutor for all grade levels.
I am a native speaker and I have also traveled multiple times to Spanish speaking countries/regions such as Mexico, Spain, Colombia and Puerto Rico.
I have an innovative approach to teaching Spanish; I initially focus primarily on the phonetics and correct accent/pronunciation, then I move on to vocabulary and grammar. When learning a second language, it is imperative that the student first learn the flow of their target language and develop the muscle memory of speaking it before focusing on spelling, vocabulary and grammar rules.
My philosophy is to have fun while learning and I incorporate activities which make my students more comfortable. The response has been eye-opening as it is no longer a subject, but a fun experience every time.
I can also teach salsa dancing if requested. I have been dancing salsa for 6 years and have picked up several other dances/genres along the way.
If you have any questions on any subject, please don't hesitate to ask.
