About Salem, OR
The city of Salem, Oregon is the capital of the state and the third largest city in the state, behind Portland and Eugene. The name “Salem” was introduced early on by European settlers, however the original name for the area that the city was built upon was known as “Chemeketa,” after the Native American tribes that first inhabited the land. The area of Salem was inhabited by Native Americans for over 5,000 years, and many of the European settlers felt that the name of the land should remain as “Chemeketa.”
These first European settlers were part of a Methodist mission. The original economic focus of the city was on the fur trade. Today, the main economic focus and employer is the state government. There is also a strong farming community in the outlying areas of the city, as well as a manufacturing sector. The top private employer in the city is Salem Hospital.

About Prioritizing Skills
The ability to effectively prioritize is an indispensable skill both in academia and in the business world. Because most jobs and schools require individuals to multi-task, one needs to have a strong grasp on how their workflow can be managed, prioritized, and controlled so that tasks can be accomplished effectively and on time. Although learning how to prioritize is a somewhat important skill set for elementary students to learn, the level of academics in high school is where many students begin to feel the pressure of having to prioritize their homework, studying, and test preparation. This is particularly true for the busy and often overachieving high school student who, in addition to taking challenging, college-preparatory classes, also engages in one or several extra-curricular activities such as sports, music, volunteering, or the arts. College-level students also must understand the importance of effectively prioritizing their work, since college courses tend to give fewer exams and term papers throughout a semester, making it critical that a student paces himself or herself effectively.
Because prioritizing is not a skill that is heavily concentrated on in the formative years of a student’s education, many students feel overwhelmed by the burden of schoolwork find it beneficial to work with a professional prioritizing tutor, who can assist them in ascertaining which tasks they should work on first. A tutor of this sort will be able to determine you or your child’s academic strengths and weaknesses, and thus create a schedule that will allow them to complete all of the work necessary to get good grades.
Whether you are a young child, a teenager, a university student, or a professional adult and are seeking help in Prioritizing, our tutors can assist you.
