About Phoenix, AZ
Often referred to as “The Valley of the Sun” because of its position between a series of mountain ranges, the once pioneering village of Phoenix, Arizona has become one of the most populous and economically important cities in the southwestern United States. With a population of over four million “Phoenecians” as they are called, Phoenix is famous for its hot, arid climate and unique culture, which combines the pioneering American spirit with Navajo and other ancient Native American heritages. The city offers its residents and visitors alike a myriad of diversions, from professional sports to amazing museums. The famous Heard Museum, for example, is internationally recognized for its unparalleled collection of Native American art as well as an annual series of art festivals and educational programs.
Compared to the colonial cities of the Northeast, Phoenix is a relatively young city, having been established in 1881. As a result, the city’s layout and design is well-planned, featuring a series of distinct districts: Downtown, Midtown, West Phoenix, North Phoenix, South Phoenix, Biltmore Area, Arcadia, Sunnyslope, and Ahwatukee account for the major regions of the city. Within these regions are 15 distinct “urban villages,” each of which contain their own unique flavor. Ahwatukee Foothills, Alhambra, Camelback East, Central City, Deer Valley, Desert View, Encanto, Estrella, Laveen, Maryvale, North Gateway, North Mountain, Paradise Valley, South Mountain, and Rio Vista are all idiosyncratic in their own way and range from urban landscapes to rugged, dusty desert communities. In particular, Rio Vista was only recently established in 2004 and is still largely vacant and rural.
Once outside of Phoenix, the surrounding towns and villages capture the rugged, arid beauty of Phoenix’s topography and climate. Surrounding cities include: Tempe, Chandler, Queen Creek, Apache Junction, Tortilla Flat, Fountain Hills, Florence, Coolidge, Buckeye, El Mirage, Surprise, and Mobile.

About General Calculus
The subject of calculus is one of the classic and principal subjects taught in mathematics departments at the college level. Although some students take pre-calculus at the end of their high school career, true calculus is usually not studied to its full extent until one reaches college, since it is considered to be one of the most sophisticated and complex branches of mathematics. Calculus is the study of derivatives, limits, integrals, and infinite series, or, in simpler terms, it is the study of change, just as geometry is the study of space. Although calculus is seen as a rather abstract form of math, it is in fact regularly applied throughout science and engineering. In many cases, calculus allows scientists and engineers to calculate and compute problems that algebra is incapable of solving. In this way, calculus is an extension of algebra, trigonometry, and even analytic geometry.
In the study of calculus, students must also be familiar with other related mathematical topics. Some of these include: algebra, trigonometry, analytical geometry, differential calculus, integral calculus, propositional calculus, predicate calculus, relational calculus, and lambda calculus. All of these study topics constitute mathematical fields in and of themselves and, while they are all covered in calculus courses, a mathematics student can greatly benefit from working one-on-one with a calculus tutor.
Whether you are a young child, a teenager, a university student, or a professional adult and are seeking help in Calculus, our tutors can assist you. Our professional tutors have advanced degrees or extensive training in Calculus and can tutor and help in subject areas such as algebra, trigonometry, analytical geometry, differential calculus, integral calculus, propositional calculus, predicate calculus, relational calculus, and lambda calculus.
