About Minneapolis, MN
One of the most remarkable cities in the Midwest is Minneapolis, Minnesota. Known as the “Twin Cities,” Minneapolis occupies both banks of the Mississippi River, with the State capital of St. Paul also occupying one of them. With these two cities combining to form one metropolitan area, the city of Minneapolis is much larger in rank: while the city population itself only ranks the city as 46th overall in the United States, when combining its metropolitan area, it ranks as 16th in the nation.
Known also as the “City of Lakes,” Minneapolis is surrounded by twenty significant lakes and wetlands in addition to the Mississippi River. All of the picaresque waterfalls, creeks, and small rivers have been connected by way of the Chain of Lakes and the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway, two parkways that allows travellers to tour these amazing water features. The city is also knows as the “Mill City,” since, for a time, the city was a leader in the milling of flour for the nation and the world. It was also an immense source for timber. The economic focus in Minneapolis has shifted in contemporary times. It is now a commercial powerhouse and is an economic link between Chicago and northwester cities such as Portland and Seattle. Minneapolis is also known to be America’s most literate city, and is home to a robust cultural community.

About Literature
The subject of literature is one of the oldest and most revered fields of study in colleges and universities in America and Europe. The study of literature is usually contained within the subject of English, and involves a wide array of courses that delve into the many areas that literature has to offer. The study of literature is sometimes divided into genre studies, and concentrates on the various literary genres, such as novels, short stories, poetry, and drama. Other literature courses focus on particular cultures, such as English literature, Irish literature, and American literature. The study of literature can also be studied according to historical periods, such as 18th century English poetry, Medieval literature, and classical literature. The study of literature makes use of various reading methods, known as literary theory.
Literary theory draws upon many other fields of study, such as philosophy, religious studies, history, linguistics, sociology, psychology, political science, and the arts in order to better understand written works. Some of the various literary theories include structuralism, formalism, Marxism, feminism, post structuralism, new criticism, and reader-response criticism. While these topics and disciplines are typically offered as formal courses in English departments in college and universities throughout America and Europe, many Literature students find it beneficial to work one-on-one with a literature tutor in order to better grasp these complex concepts.
