About Las Vegas, NV
It’s ironic that the Spanish word Las Vegas is translated into English as “The Meadows,” since there is nothing about the dry, hot, arid climate and landscape of the city that would suggest the fruitful, lush image of floral meadows. And yet, the splendor and mystique of Las Vegas does seem to grow like a tropical oasis out of an otherwise barren wasteland, its neon lights and towering, flamboyant casinos and resorts lighting up a mesmerizing skyline in the midst of the vacant Mojave Desert. In spite of its rural location, the city of Las Vegas is by far the populous city in the state of Nevada.
Founded originally in the early 1900s, it began as a modest stopover for pioneers and adventurers to the fertile west. With the boom of the gold rush and the mining industry, it further developed into a staging area for this new industry. But it was the development of its unmatched entertainment industry that put Las Vegas on the map, and it is now the fastest-growing city established in the U.S. in the 20th century, much like how Chicago was the fastest-growing city of the 19th century.
Las Vegas is now billed as the entertainment capital of the world, with its myriad of casinos, resort hotels, and the famous Vegas Strip attracting millions of visitors each year. It is home to some of the largest, most frequented casinos in the world, and its landscape and skyline now serves as a popular backdrop for films and television programs. With the popularity of poker as a television sport, Las Vegas has become particularly popular. Because of the city’s affordable real estate, it continues to be one of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S. and, even though a large majority of the city’s inhabitants work in the gaming and entertainment industry, the city is beginning to grow as a commercial city as well.
There are few established towns and cities outside of Las Vegas. For the most part, it truly is a city built in the middle of a desert. Some of the surrounding towns include: Spring Valley, Henderson, Enterprise, Paradise, Boulder City, Callville Bay, Sloan, Blue Diamond, and Mountain Springs. About Acting
While many people consider acting to be an art that either comes naturally to a person or not, there is in fact a tangible, teachable craft to the art of acting that is both necessary and engaging. The theory of acting dates back to as far as the beginning of the art itself, with the ancient Greeks perfecting their dramatic and comedic abilities in the open-air theatres of antiquity. Today, contemporary acting students can benefit from thousands of years of history and experience within the realm of acting tutoring and instruction, from the Greeks and Romans, to Shakespearian and Renaissance-period acting, to modern “method” acting and realistic schools of drama used so prominently in the film industry and on stage.
There are many aspects to consider when studying acting, such as strong vocal projection, natural emotional and physical gestures and reactions, a well-developed imagination, the ability to grasp the perspective of a particular character, the ability to imitate dialects and accents, and the art of improvisation. In order to grasp these facets of acting, one must study and practice with professional teachers and tutors who are adept at clearly explaining the methodologies and challenging student actors to push themselves into creative, new directions artistically.
Whether you are a young child, a teenager, a university student, or a professional adult and are seeking instruction in acting, our tutors can assist you. Our professional tutors hold advanced degrees or extensive training in acting and can tutor and help in subject areas such as accents and dialects, vocal projection, physical gestures, improvisation, perspective, comedy, drama, and emotion. Instruction and homework help in acting is offered in various cities and towns such as Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and others.
