About Joliet, IL
The city of Joliet is the fastest-growing city in the state of Illinois, with a population of 106,221 residents. It also continues to be one of the most rapidly growing cities in the entire United States. Much of this is due to the fact that Joliet is in close proximity to the metropolis of Chicago. As a result, many people who work in Chicago have moved into cities like Joliet in order to find more affordable housing. As a result, Joliet has successfully transitioned from being a struggling ex steel-town to a “bedroom community,” where a good majority of its residents commute of the city each day for work.
In spite of its relatively new population boom, Joliet is in fact quite an old city. It was originally named “Juliet,” however over the years, the name mutated into “Joliet” as a result of French Canadian explorer Louis Jolliet, who visited the area in 1673. Eventually the city officially changed its name to Joliet in his memory in 1845, and the city was incorporated in 1852. Joliet is also home to two reputable colleges, Joliet Junior College, which was the first public community college in the entire United States, and the University of St. Francis, a Roman Catholic institution.

About Electric Guitar
The electric guitar constitutes one of the most important inventions and revolutions in the realm of guitar making. The first electric guitars were developed in the 1930s. Prior to that, all guitars were simply acoustic, with the exception of the resonator guitars, which used utilized a thin metal strip that would vibrate and resonate underneath the guitar strings to amplify the sound. An electric guitar, however, uses a magnetic pickup that collects the vibration of the strings and sends them to an amplifier and speaker. As a result, an electric guitar has a much different sound than an acoustic guitar. The pure, electrified signal of an electric guitar can vary from instrument to instrument, depending on the body type, pickup type, amplifier type, and various guitar effects pedals, which can be plugged into the amplifier and alter the sound.
Because of the electric guitar’s ability to be amplified, it can be used in a variety of different musical genres, all of which feature very distinct playing techniques for the guitar. There, within the study of electric guitar, one may learn heavy metal, blues, country, hard rock, and jazz, all of which are quite different and require a great deal of specific technique. Therefore, the best way for students to learn the style of electric guitar they wish to play is to work one-on-one with an electric guitar tutor.
