About Houston, TX
The state of Texas is a big place, full of grandiose dreams and larger-than-life figures. From the bravery of the Alamo, to the Texas oil rush, to famous Presidents of the United States, Texas is responsible for helping to create the strong, unmistakable identity that represents the U.S. throughout the world. After all, no figure seems more American than the cowboy, and Texas is the state made famous by these cattle-rustling heroes. Still, many people – including Americans themselves – might be surprised to know that Houston is in fact the fourth largest city in the union. Named after the famed Sam Houston, the former president of the Republic of Texas who fought bravely against the Mexican army, Houston is the largest, most cultured city in Texas, and its surrounding metropolitan region is home to more than five million people, a number that dwarfs even Los Angeles. Although it is a large, cosmopolitan city, containing a myriad of headquarters for multi-national corporations as well as the mission control center for NASA at Johnson Space Center, Houston still has enough down-home, Texas charm to make you feel as though you’re down on the range.
Houston is a unique city, designed with the principles of freedom in mind. Rather than creating a centralized business district, Houston developed into multiple commercial districts, such as downtown, the East End, Uptown, Midtown, the Texas Medical Center district, the Energy Corridor, Greenway Plaza, Westchase, and Greenspoint. The presence of the Texas Medical Center, which boasts the largest concentration of healthcare researchers in the world, as well as several reputable academic institutions, sets Houston apart as a bastion of education in Texas. Surrounding cities include Channelview, La Porte, Seabrook, Pasadena, League City, Friendswood, Pearland, Missouri City, Spring, Humble, Meadows, Stafford, Kay, Rosenberg, Baytown and Aldine.

About High School Calculus
The subject of calculus is one of the most intensive and advanced math subjects taught in mathematics departments at the high school level. Although most college preparatory-track students take pre-calculus at the end of their high school career, true calculus is usually not studied to its full extent until one reaches college, since it is considered to be one of the most sophisticated and complex branches of mathematics. However, some of the most advanced high school students are given a chance to study pure calculus in honors courses, prior to attending college. Calculus is the study of derivatives, limits, integrals, and infinite series, or, in simpler terms, it is the study of change, just as geometry is the study of space. Although calculus is seen as a rather abstract form of math, it is in fact regularly applied throughout science and engineering. In many cases, calculus allows scientists and engineers to calculate and compute problems that algebra is incapable of solving. In this way, calculus is an extension of algebra, trigonometry, and even analytic geometry.
In the study of calculus, students must also be familiar with other related mathematical topics. Some of these include: algebra, trigonometry, analytical geometry, differential calculus, integral calculus, propositional calculus, predicate calculus, relational calculus, and lambda calculus. All of these study topics constitute mathematical fields in and of themselves and, while they are all covered in calculus courses, a mathematics student can greatly benefit from working one-on-one with a calculus tutor.
