About Hialeah, FL
Named as one of the most liveable suburbs by Forbes Magazine, the city of Hialeah, Florida is located within the confines of Miami-Dade County, with a burgeoning population of 224,522. Its unusual name comes from the Native American languages of the region, which translates as “upland prairie” or “pretty prairie.” Indeed, the city is located on a large, flat prairie between the Everglades and Biscayne Bay.
Although Hialeah is often considered to be a suburb of Miami, its cultural and economic identity is very strong, legitimizing it as a city independent from Miami’s influence. There is a well-established Cuban community in the city. It is for this reason that Telemundo, one of the largest Spanish-language television networks in the United States, is headquartered here. In recent years, the city has diversified even more to include many cultures from the Caribbean, Central, and South America. Much of the working community in the city can be classified as working class, and the community is known to be a safe, quiet, hard-working suburban neighborhood.
Although the city of Hialeah is home to a strong commercial base, the city itself lacks an urban-like downtown. Because of this, the city is known to be the mostly densely populated city in America without a skyscraper.
Because of its close proximity with Miami, the city of Hialeah can sometimes be considered as one of Miami’s neighborhoods. Some of the surrounding cities and towns around Hialeah include: Miami, Miramar, Kendall, Perrine, Cutler Bay, Coral Gables, Ojus, Hallandale, Dania, Biscayne Gardens, Carol City, and Davie.

About Bass
The double bass is the largest stringed instrument used in a symphony orchestra. Like most other classical string instruments, the double bass in played with a bow or by plucking the strings with one’s finger, known in classical music terms as pizzicato. The double bass is a relatively new instrument, having been developed from the now obsolete viola da gamba, which the double bass replaced in classical settings. In a symphony orchestra, the double bass is played upright, with the bassist standing behind it. There are two different bow designs, the German Bow and the French Bow, both of which are ideal for classical performance. The double bass produces a very deep, resonant sound that is generally mellow in tone. Therefore, in classical settings, it is generally not used as a solo instrument, but rather to provide bass accompaniment to the rest of the orchestra.
In addition to classical settings, the double bass has come to be used in a wide variety of folk and modern music settings since the beginning of the 20th century. Jazz music in America, in particular, revolutionized the use of the double bass, utilizing it as a replacement for the tuba in early Dixieland Jazz. Because the tuba is a wind instrument, tuba players were unable to play “walking” bass lines on the tuba at fast tempos. Bass players were able to easily accomplish this. The use of double bass in Jazz led the instrument to eventually be used in country, blues, and even early Rock and Roll. As a result, an upright or double bass player today can find a broad range of applications for their playing, as double bass is usually highly sought after in classical, jazz, folk, and pop music circles. As a result, a prospective bass student should seek to work one-on-one with a Bass tutor if they wish to learn the instrument.
