About Elgin, IL
Located on the Fox River just 40 miles southwest of Chicago, the city of Elgin is the eighth largest city by population in the state of Illinois, with a population of 94,487 residents. The city of Elgin was established in April of 1835, named after a famous Scottish hymn, called “The Song of Elgin.” The city remained rather small and modest until the Galena & Chicago Union Railroad reached the town, linking it to Chicago and other Midwestern cities and towns. The railroads began to transform the city’s economy from an agricultural and dairy model to a more industrialized city, with the advent of a condensed milk factor, the Elgin Watch Company, and other manufacturing companies.
Today, the city of Elgin is one of the most rapidly growing cities in the state of Illinois. The city has seen a major population boom, and several major housing developments have been constructed in order to accommodate the influx of new people. The city is also home to a popular riverboat casino and hotel.

About ADHD
The acronym ADHD refers to Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. ADHD is a neurobehavioral developmental disorder that affects about 3 to 5 percent of the world’s population. ADHD is particularly noticeable in childhood and can greatly impact a child’s ability to function and succeed in an academic environment. The disorder is characterized by persistent hyperactivity and the inability for children to focus for long periods of time. Other symptoms of the disorder include forgetfulness, poor impulse control, impulsivity, and distractibility. Although there is no known cure for ADHD, there are various therapies and medications that can reduce the symptoms.
In school, there are many different techniques and approaches to help meet the needs of students with ADHD, however sometimes schools are ill-equipped to help supplement an ADHD sufferer’s difficulties. As a result, one of the best ways for a student with ADHD to overcome their difficulties in school is to work with a qualified ADHD education tutor.
