Denver is the capital of the state of Colorado and its largest city as well. Known as the “mile high” city, it is located in the breathtaking South Platte River Valley, just east of the Rocky Mountains. The city lives up to its nickname: its official elevation is 5280 feet, which is exactly one mile above sea level. No other city of Denver’s size and population is located on such a high elevation. Also, the city itself represents the demarcation of where the Mountain Time Zone begins in the United States.

And, in spite of its seemingly remote location, Denver has become quite a diverse, eclectic city over the years, drawing a host of different cultures and ethnicities.
