About USMLE Test
The United States Medical Licensing Examination, or USMLE, is a standardized exam that is sponsored by the Federation of State Medical Boards and the National Board of Medical Examiners. All medical doctors must take and pass the USMLE in order to be licensed to practice medicine in the United States. Rather than administering the test in one sitting, the USMLE is gives in three steps in order to thoroughly evaluate a prospective doctor. All three of the steps must be passed before a medical student can become a doctor.
Step one of the exam tests concepts such as Anatomy, Behavioral sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology, and Interdisciplinary topics, such as nutrition, genetics, and aging. Step one assesses a test taker’s application of medical knowledge. Step three is a two-day examination that determines whether or not an applicant can function in the practice of medicine in an unsupervised manner.
