About Charlotte, NC
Most large cities in the U.S. have a nickname that aptly defines them. Charlotte, however, has two great nicknames. Its original nickname, the “Queen City,” comes from its namesake, Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg, who became the queen consort of King George III a year before the city was founded. The second nickname, however, emerged during the American Revolution, when British General Cornwallis referred to the city as “a hornet’s nest of rebellion.” Soon after, Charlotte became known as “The Hornet’s Nest,” and the Hornet was even the mascot for the city’s professional basketball city for a time.
Since the colonial era, Charlotte has remained one of the most significant cities of the south, boasting a strong, economically charged commercial and industrial community, a well-established southern culture and tradition, and a beautiful cityscape. Most recently it was rated as “The Best Place to Live in America,” based on job opportunity, a low crime rate, and an affordable real estate market. But there are many other features to Charlotte that make it an attractive choice for urban life: its restaurants, clubs, bars, and nightlife make it an exciting option for the young professional.
Charlotte has also become a major financial center for the United States. Both Bank of America and Wachovia, two of the largest banks in America, are headquartered in this city and are responsible for a major percentage of the city’s employed populace. There are also many other major corporations, some of which are ranked in the Fortune 500.
The city of Charlotte has almost 200 neighborhoods that comprise the city limits, a staggering number, to be sure. Some of these neighborhoods include: The Arboretum, a neighborhood along Pineville-Matthews Road, Ballantyne, an upscale area, along the North Carolina/South Carolina border, Biddleville, located in western Charlotte along Beatties Ford Road, Cotswold, near the intersection of Randolph and Sharon Amity roads, Derita, located just north of I-85 along West Sugar Creek Road, Dilworth, located southwest of Uptown, and Eastland, which comprises a large portion of eastern Charlotte. Some of the outlying town around Charlotte include: Mount Holly, Mint Hill, Matthews, Lake Park, Monroe, Kannapolis, Gastonia, Belmont, York, Harrisburg, and Fort Mill.

About High School Paper Writing
At the high school level, students quickly realize that teachers in virtually every subject area are eager to give them large projects in order to demonstrate their skills and knowledge. Working on a project or a term paper not only shows what a student has learned, but also teaches them valuable skills in developing, organizing, planning, outlining, drafting, editing, and presenting information. While projects at the elementary school level tend to be simpler in scope, they help to prepare students early on for the challenges of putting together a well-developed class project or well-researched term paper. As a student ascends up the academic ladder, the demands on organization and research only increase. In high school, paper writing and projects are typically concentrated on all four years, with English teachers imparting new and more sophisticated ways of researching and writing.
Often times, some students miss these critical skills, since, although teachers try and teach research and organization skills, their manner in which they teach them can be confusing at times. As a result, without having these skills in place, projects and papers can prove daunting to students at the high school and college levels. If you or your child have these difficulties, one of the best ways to improve in your research and organization skills is to work one-on-one with a research and organization skills tutor who will help you or your child to effectively complete a project or term paper from beginning to end.
