About Charlotte, NC
Most large cities in the U.S. have a nickname that aptly defines them. Charlotte, however, has two great nicknames. Its original nickname, the “Queen City,” comes from its namesake, Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg, who became the queen consort of King George III a year before the city was founded. The second nickname, however, emerged during the American Revolution, when British General Cornwallis referred to the city as “a hornet’s nest of rebellion.” Soon after, Charlotte became known as “The Hornet’s Nest,” and the Hornet was even the mascot for the city’s professional basketball city for a time.
Since the colonial era, Charlotte has remained one of the most significant cities of the south, boasting a strong, economically charged commercial and industrial community, a well-established southern culture and tradition, and a beautiful cityscape. Most recently it was rated as “The Best Place to Live in America,” based on job opportunity, a low crime rate, and an affordable real estate market. But there are many other features to Charlotte that make it an attractive choice for urban life: its restaurants, clubs, bars, and nightlife make it an exciting option for the young professional.
Charlotte has also become a major financial center for the United States. Both Bank of America and Wachovia, two of the largest banks in America, are headquartered in this city and are responsible for a major percentage of the city’s employed populace. There are also many other major corporations, some of which are ranked in the Fortune 500.
The city of Charlotte has almost 200 neighborhoods that comprise the city limits, a staggering number, to be sure. Some of these neighborhoods include: The Arboretum, a neighborhood along Pineville-Matthews Road, Ballantyne, an upscale area, along the North Carolina/South Carolina border, Biddleville, located in western Charlotte along Beatties Ford Road, Cotswold, near the intersection of Randolph and Sharon Amity roads, Derita, located just north of I-85 along West Sugar Creek Road, Dilworth, located southwest of Uptown, and Eastland, which comprises a large portion of eastern Charlotte. Some of the outlying town around Charlotte include: Mount Holly, Mint Hill, Matthews, Lake Park, Monroe, Kannapolis, Gastonia, Belmont, York, Harrisburg, and Fort Mill.

About Memorization Skills
For students of all ages, acquiring strong memorization skills is vital to test taking and remembering facts. In the western world, our academic approach is to saturate students with high volume of knowledge. The only way, therefore, for a student to be able to demonstrate that they have assimilated this knowledge is to effectively commit these facts to their long-term memory. The process of memorization is similar to any other learning method, such as note taking, studying, reading, and writing. It’s a process that can be learned by any student at any educational level.
There are several cognitive methods that have been developed in the psychology community to help facilitate memorization. Many of these methods involve word association, visual alphabets, the spacing effect, and cramming. While all of these methods have methods to learning new information, they are rarely taught in school. As a result, those who wish to improve their memorization skills should work one-on-one with a memorization tutor.
Whether you are a young child, a teenager, a university student, or a professional adult and are seeking help in Memorization Skills, our tutors can assist you. Our professional tutors have advanced degrees or extensive training in Memorization Skills and can tutor and help in subject areas such as word association, visual alphabets, the spacing effect, and cramming.
