About Charlotte, NC
Most large cities in the U.S. have a nickname that aptly defines them. Charlotte, however, has two great nicknames. Its original nickname, the “Queen City,” comes from its namesake, Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg, who became the queen consort of King George III a year before the city was founded. The second nickname, however, emerged during the American Revolution, when British General Cornwallis referred to the city as “a hornet’s nest of rebellion.” Soon after, Charlotte became known as “The Hornet’s Nest,” and the Hornet was even the mascot for the city’s professional basketball city for a time.
Since the colonial era, Charlotte has remained one of the most significant cities of the south, boasting a strong, economically charged commercial and industrial community, a well-established southern culture and tradition, and a beautiful cityscape. Most recently it was rated as “The Best Place to Live in America,” based on job opportunity, a low crime rate, and an affordable real estate market. But there are many other features to Charlotte that make it an attractive choice for urban life: its restaurants, clubs, bars, and nightlife make it an exciting option for the young professional.
Charlotte has also become a major financial center for the United States. Both Bank of America and Wachovia, two of the largest banks in America, are headquartered in this city and are responsible for a major percentage of the city’s employed populace. There are also many other major corporations, some of which are ranked in the Fortune 500.
The city of Charlotte has almost 200 neighborhoods that comprise the city limits, a staggering number, to be sure. Some of these neighborhoods include: The Arboretum, a neighborhood along Pineville-Matthews Road, Ballantyne, an upscale area, along the North Carolina/South Carolina border, Biddleville, located in western Charlotte along Beatties Ford Road, Cotswold, near the intersection of Randolph and Sharon Amity roads, Derita, located just north of I-85 along West Sugar Creek Road, Dilworth, located southwest of Uptown, and Eastland, which comprises a large portion of eastern Charlotte. Some of the outlying town around Charlotte include: Mount Holly, Mint Hill, Matthews, Lake Park, Monroe, Kannapolis, Gastonia, Belmont, York, Harrisburg, and Fort Mill.

About Knitting
The art of knitting is an ancient and important art that involves a great deal of skill, precision, creativity, and artistic vision. While the vast majority of knitted products tend to be articles of clothing, blankets, textiles, and tapestries, all of which serve a particular practical purpose, knitting allows an individual a great deal of artistic expression. A wide spectrum of yarns, threads, and knitting needles allow a knitter to craft beautiful, intricate works of wearable art that vary in color, texture, weight, and integrity.
There are several key styles and techniques associated with knitting. While machines can be used to knit products, machined knitwear tends to be the product of the textile and manufacturing industry and emphasize mass production. Hand knitting, however, employs a series of delicate techniques, such as flat knitting and circular knitting. Other techniques include courses, wales, weft knitting, warp knitting, knit and purl stitches, and creating ornamentations. A knitting tutor or instructor can be an invaluable asset to the beginning knitter, since they can quickly and efficiently teach these various techniques.
Whether you are a young child, a teenager, a university student, or a professional adult and are seeking help in knitting, our tutors can assist you. Our professional tutors have advanced degrees or extensive training in knitting and can tutor and help in subject areas such as flat knitting, circular knitting, knitting courses, knitting wales, weft knitting, warp knitting, knit and purl stitches, and creating knitting ornamentations. Instruction and homework help in knitting is offered in various cities and towns such as Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and others.
