While the agricultural sector of the city’s economy has waned in recent years, the city has become one of the nation’s capitals for ostrich farming, and even hosts an annual ostrich festival.

Although Chandler is a largely a working-class community lacking in an official commercial district, the economy of the city has benefited in recent years from Intel’s opening of four facilities within the city limits. Orbital Sciences Corporation also has an office in the city, giving it a newfound identity as a center for technological manufacturing.
