About PRAXIS Test
The PRAXIS test is one of a series of standardized examinations that prospective teachers must take and pass in order to be an officially certified teacher or instructor. The test is administered by the Educational Testing Service and, unlike other exams that are administered only once; PRAXIS exams are given before, during, and after teacher training courses. By constantly testing teaching students, the PRAXIS exam is able to determine the aptitude and teaching ability of a prospective teacher. In order to teach in most states in the U.S., an individual must earn qualifying scores in the PRAXIS I and PRAXIS II Content Area Assessments.
The PRAXIS I consists of three exams that test what are known as Pre-Professional skills. This exams tests reading, writing, and mathematics. The PRAXIS II assessment covers a much wider range of subjects and study fields. Finally, the PRAXIS III is administered during a teacher’s first year of teaching and involves a pre- and post-observation interview. As a result of this comprehensive form of testing, working one-on-one with a PRAXIS tutor can be a tremendous advantage.
