The city of Grand Rapids, Michigan is the second largest city in the state and the principal city in the western half of Michigan. The health sciences sector is a growing area of the city’s economy, with several new facilities making their home in the universities and colleges within Grand Rapids. In the outer regions of the city, there is still a strong farming community as well. Its proximity to the Lake Michigan region features optimal growing conditions for various fruits, such as apples, peaches, and blueberries.
