I have been tutoring off and on for the past four years in mathematics. I have tutored at all school levels. Whenever I have a new client, I like to spend time talking about what specifically troubles them with the subject, what they want to improve on, what they feel the do the best with, and how they learn the best. I also like to do an assessment of the subject matter, just so I can quickly identify strengths and weaknesses. Based on that, I like to create a lesson around the results of our conversation and the assessment.

I definitely understand that there are many learning styles and being able to communicate the information in more than one medium is important. Some students like taking notes to help cement the information. Some prefer print outs of the lessons or power points for memorization. I have even had a couple of clients who like drawings to better understand concepts and rules. I myself am more of a visual learner and learn best by performing things in repetition. I am very flexible when it comes to lesson plans. I also offer e-tutoring for clients that are very busy and have a rigid schedule.
