Hello! My name is Alisha. I am an Honors graduate with a B.S. in Biochemistry and a Master's degree specializing in molecular biology research and microbial studies that enjoys helping students develop confidence and succeed in their studies. We'll go through the material step by step, discover your learning style, and find the tools you need to be confident in your math, science, and English abilities.
My Qualifications
Biology/Anatomy/Microbiology/Genetics
As an Honors-in-Biology graduate (GPA 3.78) from East Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Biochemistry, my undergraduate studies included Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, Biochemistry I and II, DNA Recombinant Lab, Neurobiology, Plant Biology, and Plant Physiology. I went on to receive my master's degree in a very specialized field of microbiology, Plant Pathology. With a M.S. in Plant Pathology (Mycology track), my training included upper-division coursework in Virology, Bacteriology, Mycology, Microbial Ecology, and Genetic Mechanisms of Plant Infection and Disease. My first teaching experience in the biological sciences included working as a TA for Biology Laboratory and Molecular Biology, where I enjoyed the chance to share my enthusiasm about biology and make students comfortable in a laboratory setting. As a part-time Biology Professor for Riverside Community College, teaching both Anatomy & Physiology lecture and Biology lab for freshman students, I felt blessed to be able to really make a difference in the lives of my students. I especially appreciated the chance to work with adult students returning to school. I've also developed and taught science curriculum to 1st grade girls.
Math/Algebra/Pre-calculus
Having chosen a college major with a Chemistry concentration, I had to develop a solid understanding of math in order to obtain my degree. My completed coursework includes Algebra, Pre-calculus, Biological Statistics, and Calculus I and II.
