Hi everyone! My name is Marc Beckerman and I am a recent Masters of Biomedicine graduate from UMDNJ. Since my early days as a youth camp counselor and soccer instructor I have been interested in helping children progress both in and out of the classroom. My extensive tutoring background and interest in education began in high school through the National Honors Society and progressed during my time at NYU. After graduating with concentrations in neuroscience and psychology, I began working at Cornell’s Division of Neurobiology laboratory. My time there not only allowed me to develop my skills as a biology and laboratory teacher, but also greatly influenced my ability to write and edit long form essays by publishing several papers in peer reviewed journals. Over the course of these two years, I was also involved in the ‘Brain Awareness Society,’ an organization that visits public schools throughout NYC to teach children about the fundamentals of this exciting field.

I always aim to form a great student-teacher partnership based on shared goals and joint respect. By varying lesson plans and being relatable, I am able to keep the students actively involved and interested. I have often seen that establishing a productive dialogue (even based on our mutual interest in the NY Giants, soccer, or music) is the best way to ensure consistent academic progress. I look forward to teaching your student how to excel in a fun and interactive environment!
