I have extensive experience teaching music, math, and SAT prep. As a lifelong musician, I've been teaching private trumpet lessons since high school. I've had students as young as 10 and as old as 50, and I enjoy teaching enthusiastic students of all ages. I've also spent many years studying composition, theory, ear training and improvisation. I believe that these are skills that can and should be explored by any student of music.
Test scores are an important part of college admissions. Based on my academic credentials, I was hired by Miami's premier test prep company as an SAT tutor. I learned the ins and outs of the test, and found that each student must develop his or her own strategy in order to achieve the best possible score. With plenty of hard work, my students improved up to 330 SAT points.
Everyone learns differently, and I enjoy the challenge of adapting lessons to each student's needs and learning style. No matter what the subject, I believe that learning can be interesting, sometimes even fun (ok, maybe this is more realistic for music than for testing!), and that students learn best when they are engaged and motivated. I've been very lucky to have many great teachers in my life, and their influence continues to inspire my own teaching. I hope to bring out the best in each of my students.
