I was originally born in California, but due to my parents' work we moved around so I lived for most of my life in Ecuador, so I'm fluent in English and Spanish.

I'm currently a student at Berklee College of Music, where I'm majoring in Professional Music. My main focus is on ear training and improvisation in performance. Before being at Berklee I studied at Temple University in Philadelphia, where I studied liberal arts, focusing mainly on philosophy and writing.

I spent the last several years working as a volunteer music teacher in the Galapagos Islands at a very small school, where I had a really great experience. I mainly worked with students in grades 7-12, where I taught a general music class and also led a student percussion group that played in various events outside of school. I've taught private lessons since high school on drum set, which is my principal instrument. As a student at Berklee I have a strong foundation in essential core subjects like theory and performance, and love sharing what I've learned with younger students.

Apart from music I love reading and writing, which was actually my intended subject of study before switching to music. Being a stronger reader and writer is so crucial for doing well in life, I would really enjoy having the chance to help young students fortify their skills in this area so they can be successful.

My experience as a teacher has been really wonderful. I have a great time with the kids and I think we relate to each other well. I always push myself to be my very best and I believe in giving my students the push necessary to get the best out of themselves. It's really important to move away from traditional teaching methods of simply telling students what they need to know and making them memorize it, and engage students to become strong critical, analytical thinkers, problem solvers, and enthusiastic about learning. Teachers must show the student how to fish, rather than just give them the fish.
