Hi! I'm Shima, as you've seen above. I am a graduate of St. John's University where I majored in Biology and minored in English. I attended The Bronx High School of Science and graduated in 2008. Science has been a part of my life for a very long time but English is my passion and I love to tutor students in reading, writing, literature, analysis, and anything related to that field. I've been tutoring since I was in middle school and professionally, I have experience working with pre-K children as well as high school students. I spent three years while I was in college working with a wonderful program called Jumpstart- a nationally funded AmeriCorps program whose mission it is to help prepare pre-K aged children to succeed in school. I've also worked as a tutor and teaching assistant for a high school with special needs called The Summit School located in Queens, also during my college years.

Like many students looking for tutors right now, I've been there and done that. Now I'm on the other side, looking to help students like you with whatever problems and issues you're having in school academically or perhaps even in terms of planning for studying. Believe it or not, planning is a major part of doing well in school in almost every subject. With me as your tutor, you wouldn't just be learning and improving in the subjects you need help in, you'd also learn and improve on how you study and the techniques you can use to be a more efficient student. That means, instead of spending hours going over things, I'll help you figure out how you learn best and how to make time to do other things you enjoy. One thing you'll learn from me is how to organize your surroundings, your study materials, and most importantly, your routine so that you can begin to work on your own- without the help of a tutor.

I hope to help you in your endeavors so contact me for information, we can chat about what you need help in so that I can help you succeed!
