I am an experienced educator who loves to tutor. The one-on-one interaction of in-home tutoring is a welcome break from the structure of classroom teaching, and I look forward assisting you with English, writing, grammar, or test prep!
For the past three years, I have taught college-level composition and literature at Texas State University. Before I ventured into college education, I spent two years teaching middle and high school English courses at a private school in North Texas. Throughout these endeavors, I have always set aside time for private tutoring.
If you are frustrated with writing or baffled by grammar and punctuation, you are not alone! Writing is a struggle for many students, and even professional writers sometimes find themselves flummoxed by the blank page. My goal is to make the writing process more intuitive, and maybe even enjoyable. I will work with you to navigate the challenges that slow you down, and to develop writing methods that work for you.
If you are preparing for a standardized test, I can help you develop strategies to reduce your anxiety and maximize your score. As an undergraduate at the University of North Texas, I received test prep training and worked with the Department of English to prepare students for the THEA and GRE exams. While teaching at the secondary level, I provided individualized PSAT and SAT preparation for my students. Today, I volunteer as a GED tutor with a local nonprofit, and I provide in-home test prep services at your convenience.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions about my tutoring approach, my background, or how I can help meet your needs. I look forward to getting to know you!
