Special Needs: ?
I am a 29 year-old university graduate in English/Pre-Medical studies, and an avid musician and audio engineer.
Related to Pre-Medical studies, I currently work in a genetics lab at the University of Texas at Austin as a lab technician and manager. By virtue of my career and previous coursework at UT, I consider myself an expert in genetics. I am also very proficient in other Pre-Med subjects--biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry and physics. I studied for the MCAT on my own, without the help of a preparatory course the likes of Kaplan or Princeton Review, and made a 33 P. While my score is slightly less than the top 10%, I believe the fact that I earned a good score on my own testifies to my strong knowledge in all pertinent subject areas. I consider myself an excellent teacher because I am interested in developing personal methodologies that work for each individual student, as opposed to non-specific techniques utilized by larger, more expensive tutoring companies.
Regarding music, over the past 10 years I have apprenticed with two major music producers in Austin, and I have also run my own project studio in Hyde Park. I have a broad knowledge of general recording practices, including mic placement, audio mixing and mastering. Beyond that, I have expert knowledge of Cubase and Reason, and am a moderately experienced Pro Tools and Abelton user.
